AI demand continues to pressure memory prices, but Nex claims that supply for this year is secured.

Nex Playground, a family console based on camera and motion, should not increase in price again this year. According to GamesIndustry.biz, the leadership of Nex states that they have secured the components needed for this year, although the memory and storage market remains under pressure due to high demand related to AI infrastructure.

The console already increased in price earlier this year in the US from $249 to $299, with the explanation that DDR memory and eMMC storage have become significantly more expensive due to changes in global supply and demand. Nex Playground is aimed at families and children, and games are played using body movements instead of traditional controllers.

Nex's president Thomas Kang stated that the supply for this year is secured, but also warned that additional demand could force the company to seek new supplies. According to GamesIndustry.biz, Nex therefore wants to carefully manage costs to avoid further price increases.
