Capcom has released a new update on the sales results of Resident Evil 4 Remake, confirming that the game has surpassed a staggering 8 million copies sold globally.
This news was shared on the official Capcom Japan Twitter/X profile, along with a commemorative illustration celebrating this impressive sales result.
Just a few weeks ago, the number of copies sold was around 7.6 million, which means that the popularity of the game is not waning. Resident Evil 4 Remake, which is available on PS4, PS5, Xbox Series S|X and PC, continues its remarkable sales success, currently outselling many other games in the franchise. Launching in March 2023, this remake is well on its way to surpassing Resident Evil 3 Remake, which reached 9 million copies sold in less than two years.
Here's a breakdown of the best sales results of the most successful games in the Resident Evil series, according to Capcom:
- Resident Evil 2 Remake: 14.2 million
- Resident Evil 7: Biohazard: 13.7 million
- Resident Evil Village: 10.1 million
- Resident Evil 5: 9.2 million
- Resident Evil 6: 9.2 million
- Resident Evil 3 Remake: 9 million
- Resident Evil 4 Remake: 8 million
Also, Resident Evil 4 Remake received a PSVR 2 upgrade after launch, much like Resident Evil Village, while Resident Evil 7: Biohazard launched with full PSVR support from day one.

In addition, Capcom is rumored to be working on remakes of Resident Evil Code: Veronica and Resident Evil Zero, the only two games in the series that have yet to receive their modern remakes. A new sequel to the series, tentatively titled Resident Evil 9, is also rumored to be in development, although it has yet to be officially announced.
The Resident Evil series continues to be one of Capcom's best-selling titles, alongside another great franchise - Monster Hunter. The latest part of that series, Monster Hunter Wilds, should be released early next year, which only confirms Capcom's success on multiple platforms.
All in all, Resident Evil 4 Remake continues to set new standards for the horror genre and attract players around the world, as Capcom successfully balances the expansion of existing franchises with work on new titles.
