First look at Empluna

We tried the demo version of the game Empluna

Empluna is an upcoming sandbox city-building and management game from the studio BigCodersPlanet that aims to offer something different from traditional building games. Instead of placing pre-made buildings, players design each structure from the ground up, creating everything from individual rooms in factories to entire neighborhoods. Combined with resource management, production chains, trade, and the needs of the population, the game has the potential to become a deep and rewarding city-building experience.

As someone who enjoys city-building games and titles focused on civilization management, I was immediately drawn to the concept of Empluna. The freedom to design buildings block by block feels refreshing, and the variety of building options allows for a lot of creativity. The charming visual style also gives the game a unique and appealing personality.

However, in the current preview version, the game is still far from being fully playable. I encountered several issues, including keys that simply did not work, primarily the exit game key. The user interface also lacks clear instructions, making many mechanics difficult to understand without trial and error. Since many systems are not clear on their own, starting to play can feel frustrating rather than fun.

That said, it’s important to keep in mind that this is an early preview version, so bugs and unfinished features are to be expected. The core idea behind Empluna is truly exciting, and the foundations for a great city-building game are already in place. If the developers continue to listen to community feedback, improve the interface, and resolve technical issues, Empluna could become a standout title within the genre.

Although the current preview is still rough around the edges and needs significant polishing, the ambitious building system and creative freedom make this game a title worth following. I look forward to seeing how it develops and can’t wait to play the final version.
