Roman gladiators, parkour, explosive crossbows, and hectoliters of blood. dieselDome: Oil & Blood combines boomer shooter action and roguelite mechanics in a chaotic arena that could delight fans of fast FPS titles.

If you've ever wondered what it would look like if the Roman Empire discovered oil, developed parkour technology, and decided to organize gladiatorial tournaments with automatic crossbows and rocket jumps, the answer is very simple. DIESELDOME: Oil & Blood.

Even after just a few minutes of playing the demo version, it's clear that the developers at GHST Studios weren't aiming for realism. Instead, they decided to combine boomer shooter action, roguelite structure, and Survivor mechanics into one chaotic whole filled with blood, explosions, and adrenaline. And we must admit that this crazy combination works surprisingly well.

The plot itself is not in the foreground. We are placed in a brutal Roman punk world where the audience literally decides our fate as we fight against waves of enemies within a massive arena. The atmosphere resembles a mix of Doom, Unreal Tournament, and Mad Max. Just with more togas and less civilization.

The game's greatest strength lies in movement. Running on walls, sliding, using grappling, and constantly maintaining speed make every skirmish extremely dynamic. One moment you're racing across walls like a cyber gladiator, and the next you're falling in the midst of a horde of enemies because you overestimated your own parkour abilities. Yes, and that happens more often than we would like to admit.

The roguelite elements also leave a very good impression. During each playthrough, we collect perks and upgrades that can completely change the playstyle. The demo already offers a large number of different perks, multiple characters with unique weapons, and random events that make each new round different. The audience and betting system is particularly interesting, further enhancing the feeling that we are in a bloody sports spectacle. Every good kill combo is rewarded with applause, and the audience here is not just decoration but an important part of progression.

Visually, the game doesn't push the boundaries of technology, but the stylized retro approach fits perfectly with the frenetic gameplay. The explosion effects, the number of enemies on screen, and the overall feeling of chaos create a true boomer shooter vibe. During the demo gameplay, performance is mostly stable, although in moments of greatest chaos, minor technical hiccups can still be noticed, which is quite expected at this stage of development.

DIESELDOME: Oil & Blood currently seems like a very promising project that isn't afraid to be different. It's not a game that will appeal to everyone. The demanding movement and constant action might turn off some players, but fans of fast FPS titles and the roguelite formula should definitely keep an eye on this demo. If nothing else, it's hard to ignore a game where Roman gladiators run on walls and blow up monsters with explosive crossbows.

And that's not something you see every day.
