In big news from Sony, Hermen Hulst has confirmed that Concord for PS5 and PC will not be making a comeback and that Firewalk Studios has closed. According to Bloomberg's Jason Schreier, about 172 employees will lose their jobs, although Sony says it will try to find new jobs within its global network of studios for some of those affected.
In a statement, Hulst said: "Certain aspects of Concord were exceptional, but the game didn't attract enough players, resulting in it being pulled from the network. We spent a lot of time exploring all options, but after much thought, we've decided to permanently shut down the game and close the studio. I want to thank the entire Firewalk team for their dedication, creativity, and hard work."
Concord is officially out on August 23rd for $39.99 / £34.99 on PS5 and PC. However, sales were estimated at only 25,000 copies, and the game was withdrawn on September 6.
