On October 6, 2024, Itagaki Games, the studio founded by renowned game creator Tomonobu Itagaki, officially shut down. The studio was founded in January 2021 with ambitious plans to develop games for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and PC. Unfortunately, despite high expectations, the studio failed to release a single game during its existence.
According to the official dissolution notice published in the Japanese government gazette, all creditors have two months to file their claims. The news comes as a surprise to many in the gaming industry, given Itagaki's reputation as the creator of popular series such as Ninja Gaiden and Dead or Alive.
While the closing of Itagaki Games is disappointing, there remains hope that Tomonobu Itagaki will continue to contribute to the gaming industry in some other way. His influence and legacy in the gaming world remain undeniable.
