Paradox Interactive and Triumph Studios have announced Age of Wonders 4: Secrets of the Archmages, a new DLC for the fantasy strategy game Age of Wonders 4. The expansion will be released on June 16, 2026, for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S, and will be available for a price of €19.99. It will also be included in the Age of Wonders 4: Expansion Pass 3 package.
Secrets of the Archmages thematically focuses on the hidden and forbidden powers of the Wizard Kings, bringing players three new Story Realms. In these realms, players will follow the adventures of some of the most famous wizard rulers of Athla, including Merlin's apprentice in Evermore, survival in the chaotic world of Azh’Ruun Pit, and the rescue of the legendary hero Ham Binger from the Fey domain of Burrow Downs.
The DLC also introduces six new magical tomes, including the Tome of Abjuration, Tome of Gluttony, Tome of the Sprite, Tome of the Weaver, Tome of Burning Passion, and Tome of the Cosmos. Each of them opens up new possibilities for army development, spellcasting, and strategy shaping.
One of the bigger novelties is the Owlkin form, a new race of wise and cautious owl-like beings. Players will be able to customize them with different appearances and use them as a foundation for creating a new civilization.
Secrets of the Archmages will also expand the world map with new hidden dimensions, landmarks, threats, units, wild creatures, music, mount animals, Pantheon content, and a new interface look. Paradox also released a trailer showcasing some of the new content along with the announcement.
