The story takes place during the 84th birthday of the main character's grandmother, but the family gathering quickly turns into a tense investigation. Someone present wants to harm the grandmother, and the player must explore the childhood home, talk to unusual family members, and try to uncover who can actually be trusted.
Apple Crumble is described as a fully voice-acted thriller lasting between 60 to 90 minutes. Among the suspects are the grandmother, an exhausted mother, an uncle in the midst of a midlife crisis, an unknown man in the bedroom, and even the player themselves. The game draws inspiration from titles like MOUTHWASHING and the film Knives Out, promising a short, dense, and twisted experience with an emphasis on atmosphere, family relationships, and twists.
