Home / Tech / DRAM memory prices surged in the second quarter of 2026.

according to a SigmaIntel study

Prices of memory chips continued to rise during the second quarter of 2026, and new research shows that some DRAM products have increased by nearly 90 percent compared to the previous quarter. LPDDR chips have been the most affected, while classic DDR4 modules have also seen a significant price increase.

For example, a 16 Gb DDR module is now listed at a price of $28.50, while in the previous quarter it cost $19.20. An even larger jump is recorded for 16 GB DDR4 modules, which have risen from $137.30 to $207.10. LPDDR5X memory has fared even worse, with a price increase from $77.10 to $145.90, representing an increase of nearly 89 percent.

Price increases have also affected data storage. A 512 GB NVMe Gen4 SSD jumped from $82 to $126.30, while some UFS and uMCP products recorded increases of over 100 percent. If this trend continues, more expensive memory could spill over into the prices of finished computers, laptops, smartphones, and future gaming hardware.
