Grand Theft Auto VI is getting closer to release, and with new information about pre-orders, a big question has arisen: what about the online mode? Rockstar is currently presenting GTA VI through the story of Jason and Lucía, Vice City, and the state of Leonida, while the online mode is not mentioned as part of the base package on release day. The official website emphasizes the campaign, characters, game world, and releases related to their story.
This, of course, does not mean that GTA VI will never receive an online component. On the contrary, it is hard to imagine a new Grand Theft Auto without a successor to GTA Online, especially after the huge success Rockstar had with the online portion of GTA V. However, there is currently no official confirmation that the new online mode will launch on the same day as the game itself.
According to earlier reports, it is possible that Rockstar will repeat a similar model as with GTA V, where GTA Online arrived later. GameSpot wrote back in April that we should not expect the online mode immediately upon the game's release, but that the online component could arrive later. For now, this should be taken as unofficial information, as Rockstar has not announced a specific date for the online component of GTA VI.
