Due to a change in vision

CD Projekt has announced that it is changing its name to CD Projekt Red. This decision was made during a meeting where employees voted on the name, as they say the reason is to make the name closer to the development studio itself.

CD Projekt was founded in 1994, and its primary goal was to publish foreign games in Poland and translate them for their players. CD Projekt Red was established in 2002 as a development studio that would create its own games instead of just publishing others. Their first title was The Witcher, which was very popular both with the audience and critics.

For the next 24 years, the philosophy was that Projekt was the company, and Projekt Red was the development studio, but it seems that now they will have something in common. According to the official announcement, the company stated that due to publishing and developing games, the name change makes sense, as branding and hiring will be much easier and more direct.

"The studio's activities currently correspond to the company's core operational activity, which consists of producing and publishing video games and managing the company's brands, including through the creation and licensing of related products."

"According to the Management's opinion, the new company name will ensure consistency in the communication of the CD Projekt Red brand, which will, among other things, facilitate the identification of the company with its products in the global market and support hiring processes."

CD Projekt Red currently has five studios and two branches. Thus, CD Projekt Red Europe consists of CD Projekt Red in Warsaw (The Witcher and Cyberpunk) as well as CD Projekt Red Wrocław and CD Projekt Red Kraków.

CD Projekt Red North America consists of CD Projekt Red Vancouver (Digital Scapes Studios) and CD Projekt Red Boston. Boston was established to assist in the development of the sequel to Cyberpunk 2077, while the studio in Warsaw is working on the development of The Witcher 4.
