Yesterday (July 23, 2026), the traditional San Diego Comic Con began, bringing us various announcements from the world of comics. Marvel, Arc System Works, and Sony had a special panel that gave attendees insight into the game's development and even one surprise.
We learned that the first additional character, Phoenix Cyclops, a member of the X-Men who has been possessed by a mysterious force, will arrive this fall. Cyclops will be voiced by Ray Chase, who portrayed him in Marvel Rivals and Marvel Cosmic Invasion.
"Cyclops is one of the iconic Marvel leaders of the X-Men. In MARVEL Tokon: Fighting Souls, this version of Cyclops takes inspiration from the Phoenix Five team that appeared in the Avengers vs. X-Men series. Along with the already well-known lasers and physical combat, Scott Summers possesses the Phoenix Force and is ready for any opponent. We will soon share more information about how he fits into the fight." said Arc System Works producer Takeshi Yamanaka.
Besides Cyclops, we also got an opening animation for the game created by the Japanese animation studio Sanzigen and director Daisuke Suzuki. The theme song Stronger as One is performed by Keiko Terada (SHOW-YA) and mayu (NEMOPHILA), with lyrics written by Kanata Okajima, and the music arranged by MEG (MEGMETAL).
"Combining the intensity of classic fighting titles with the style, heart, and energy of early 2000s anime openings, this animation sets the stage for the upcoming battles." stated the official description.
The panel also announced a collaboration with Marvel's Wolverine, so Tokon and the aforementioned game will receive special costumes.
