Final Fantasy VII Revelation rewards veterans of the Remake trilogy.

Square Enix revealed what bonuses players will receive if they have saved game data from the Remake and Rebirth.

After last night's big surprise and the official announcement of Final Fantasy VII Revelation, Square Enix revealed the first details about the bonuses awaiting long-time fans of the remake trilogy. Players who have saved positions from previous installments on the same platform will be able to unlock special summon materia right at the start of the new adventure.

Owners of a save file from Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade will receive:

  • Summon Materia: Chocobo & Moogle

Meanwhile, players who have a saved position from Final Fantasy VII Rebirth will unlock:

  • Summon Materia: Phoenix

As with previous installments of the trilogy, the bonus will only be available if the save data is on the same platform on which Revelation will be played. Although it is not exclusive content that significantly changes the gameplay experience, such bonuses have become a sort of tradition for the remake trilogy and represent a small token of gratitude to players who have followed Cloud's story from the very beginning.

Square Enix has not yet revealed details about special editions of the game, but it is almost certain that Revelation will receive special editions, as was the case with Remake and Rebirth. Additional DLC content and special bonuses are expected in the coming months.

What may be even more important is the fact that Final Fantasy VII Revelation will, for the first time in the history of the remake trilogy, arrive simultaneously on all major platforms. The game is announced for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC (Steam, Epic Games Store, and Xbox PC app), and Nintendo Switch 2, with a release planned for 2027. For Xbox players, this is a particularly significant moment. After years of waiting and PlayStation exclusivity, the final chapter of one of the most important JRPG stories of all time will be available to all players on the same day.

And if you have diligently kept your save files from Remake and Rebirth over the past few years, Square Enix will at least symbolically reward you for it.
