The Nintendo DS game Cory in the House has made an unexpected return to the public eye, thanks to an internet joke that has spiraled a bit out of control. For a time, the game was ranked behind the hit Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 on Metacritic's list of best games with a user rating of 9.4. However, the rating has dropped to 9.3, causing the game to fall to 5th place. Numerous listings have appeared on eBay with prices ranging from around fifty dollars to absurd amounts of several hundred and even up to a thousand dollars. The game was originally released in 2008 and is based on the Disney series Cory in the House. In the game, players take on the role of Cory Baxter, the son of the White House's head chef, who must stop an evil toy manufacturer and his plan to hypnotize the residents of Washington using presidential figurines. Cory in the House was almost unanimously criticized upon its release. However, years later, the internet has embraced it as an ironic "masterpiece." Whether anyone will actually pay those enormous amounts for the game and how far this joke will go remains to be seen.
