Wargaming, developer and publisher of the leading naval multiplayer game World of Warships, kicks off the holiday season with the Warships Winter Wonderland in its latest seasonal update. It's packed with goodies and activities that will fill players with the warmth of seasonal joy as they sail through icy seas—free ships, camouflages, and containers all waiting to be unwrapped under the virtual Christmas tree. And to make this winter celebration even more memorable, a pair of vessels whose fates are intertwined in history—USS Archerfish and aircraft carrier Shinano—enter the game, giving players the chance to relive their historical rivalry. Finally, the icing on the Christmas cake comes in the form of themed Action Passes and much more for captains to discover.

Good things await players in the Wonders of the Arctic

As an introduction to the season of giving, a heap of rewards is stacked up for players to enjoy as the Wonders of the Arctic event brings the port of Nordlyshavn to World of Warships. This vibrant refuge will embrace players' ships for the holiday update and protect them from the turbulent seas. At the heart of this winter action is a Christmas tree waiting to be adorned with decorations painstakingly earned in battles. By decorating and bringing it to life with holiday ornaments, players will unlock free items ranging from containers to World of Warships premium accounts. Once all unique decorations are added, the permanent camouflage New Year’s Sky, three containers of More Coal, and the "By the Fireplace" flag will find their way into players' stockings. World of Warships also brings back the Advent Calendar to reward loyal players with various daily gifts throughout December.

A brand new event, Expedition to the North Pole, further spreads the holiday cheer and concludes the adventures of Li Wei and Olaf Lundgren, a pair of adventurers from previous updates. The event features a free tier VIII ship from the tech tree—the American battleship North Carolina—which is available to everyone, a tier X German battleship from the Schlieffen tech tree, and more rewards for those who complete the expedition.

Finally, Holiday rewards return from December 1, 2024, to January 9, 2025, and are available for ships of tier V and above. Completing a series of tasks will reward virtual sailors with Santa Claus certificates that can be exchanged for containers of Santa's gifts or Santa's mega gifts or for a nice haul of credits. Each of these containers has a chance to give one of 145 ships or a Golden Gift container filled with valuable rewards, including ships of tier IX and above.

Play the legendary battle from World War II

The famous American submarine tier X Archerfish and the Japanese aircraft carrier tier X Shinano are entering the list of vessels in the latest World of Warships update. This pair of vessels from opposite sides in World War II is known for an encounter that will go down in history at the peak of the conflict. Like the story of David and Goliath, the tiny submarine Archerfish managed to overcome a much larger prey—the newly built and not quite finished Shinano, the largest aircraft carrier of its time.

The tier X submarine Archerfish comes equipped with short-range guided torpedoes and high-speed sonar signals, which is perfect for diverting prey beneath the waves of the ocean. It is also the first submarine equipped with Combat Orders that provide cooling acceleration on all consumables upon activation. As for Shinano, which began its life as a battleship before being converted into an aircraft carrier, it offers a squadron of bombers with skip bombs and a Tactical Smoke Generator for invisibly seizing aggressive positions. The new vessels come with captains, camouflage, flags, and a series of missions that can grant captains a historical patch for the USS Archerfish.

More content is on the horizon

The new World of Warships update brings a lot for players to enjoy. Two new themed chapters of the Action Pass are dedicated to the adventures of Li Wei and Olaf Lundgren, explorers on icy quests. Each chapter lasts three weeks and offers 25 levels that follow the captains on their journey and deliver patches, containers, camouflages, and more. Starting November 27, 2024, the shipyard in Hamburg will begin construction of the pan-European battleship tier IX Nirod and the pan-European destroyer tier V kalmar, both equipped with a variety of weapon sets and capabilities. Additionally, fantastic new social activities will allow players to team up and face familiar challenges with the arrival of Clan Patrols, the return of Asymmetric Battles, and new seasons of Clan Battles and Brawls.
