Fortnite is once again available for many regions through Apple's App Store, while the court case that began in 2020 is still ongoing. Epic Games and Apple have been engaged in a long battle that resulted in the removal of the popular battle royale title from the platform, and it seems they have managed to smooth over their relations.
"We will continue to challenge Apple's anti-competitive moves aimed at banning other companies from the App Store. Around the world, we see this momentum to start speaking out about these moves with regulators in Japan, the European Union, and the United Kingdom, but Apple has repeatedly gotten away with tariffs, intimidation, and other demands. It is time for regulators to truly start enforcing the laws so that development studios and consumers around the world can benefit from an open and fair mobile ecosystem." Epic stated in an official report.
They also specifically addressed the Australian market: "In Australia, we have a case against Apple, the court has ruled that many of the team's demands were illegal, but despite that, Apple continues to aggressively impose demands. Therefore, we ask the court to put an end to these actions and to create rules that will be fair to all teams developing mobile applications, as well as to iOS users. Epic cannot return under an illegal agreement with Apple, so if they do not decide to accept the funds legally, we must wait for the court's decision."
