Assetto Corsa Rally has received a major new update 0.5, which brings two new real tracks – Loutraki and Elatia – based on famous Greek rally locations that have previously appeared in the World Rally Championship. The game is currently available in Early Access on Steam, and 505 Games and Supernova Games Studios, in technical partnership with KUNOS Simulazioni, emphasize that this is the latest chapter in the well-known Assetto Corsa franchise, this time focused on realistic driving physics in one of the most demanding and spectacular forms of motorsport.
The new Greek rally environment in Update 0.5 also features the first integration of online multiplayer. Players can now create and join fully customizable lobbies for up to 16 players, while the update has also brought significant improvements to physics, including an upgraded tire model that offers a more realistic interaction between the tire and the surface. Supernova Games Studios announces that this is the latest free content update for Assetto Corsa Rally, along with additional major updates and new content that will lead the game towards version 1.0.
Loutraki is a well-known special stage that has been used for years in the World Rally Championship. It starts on the edge of the city and climbs towards the hills of Aghii Theodori, following roads typical of Greek rally stages: dusty, with stones and rocks along the edges and dangers around every corner. The route is winding, alternating fast sections with wide turns and has a medium-width road. High speeds combined with wide lines challenge the driver's concentration and car control, while also offering many opportunities for drifting.
Near the town of Elatia is the special stage Elatia–Zeli, which connects two settlements and has also been used for years in the World Rally Championship. The roads are wide and dusty, with numerous ruts, exposed stones, and dangers typical of Greek rally stages. The track is fast and full of wide turns, allowing drivers to fully utilize the car's power and perform spectacular drifts. However, high speeds and challenging surface conditions still require great precision and concentration.
The first phase of online multiplayer introduces custom and public lobbies for up to 16 players in single-stage events, with complete control over time, car restrictions, and live viewing in real-time. The update also brings official ACR lobbies managed by developers, which use automatic multiple instances to ensure the community always has open spots to join. Multiplayer with version 0.5 comes with a rotating event calendar consisting of two standard weekly events and one premium event available exclusively on weekends, from Friday to Sunday.
A major physics overhaul introduces an upgraded tire model with a revised peak slip angle formula, enhancing the usability of the inner tire, along with a more stable calculation of load sensitivity scaled to pressure and contact patch size. Surface recognition has been revamped with unique parameter sets and adjustments for each terrain, and longitudinal and lateral "bulldozing" effects on soft surfaces have been introduced. Improved lean dynamics now scale grip according to load and angle sensitivity, while experimental stick-slip and dig-dependent vibrations reintroduce a more detailed feel of the surface. A new dynamic ideal line debuts in Greece, expanding through corners, along with a global rebalance of all surfaces, cars, and pre-set configurations.
