Assetto Corsa Rally has made a significant leap in the world of sim racing – the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) has chosen it as the exclusive platform for a new global esports competition called the FIA Esports Global Rally Tour.
The project is co-signed by 505 Games and Supernova Games Studio, with technical support from KUNOS Simulazioni. The new FIA initiative aims to further develop the esports segment and attract a new generation of drivers, with a plan to significantly increase global participation in motorsport.
The competition begins on May 12 with global online qualifiers, where the top 56 drivers from around the world will be selected – including 16 from Europe and 8 from regions such as North America, Asia, and Africa. This will be followed by regional “shootout” tournaments in knockout format.
The first regional event will take place on June 23 in Macau during the FIA conference, while the European part is scheduled for October 16-18 in Frankfurt as part of the SimRacing Expo. The top 16 drivers will qualify for the grand final, which will be held in December in Shanghai during the FIA Awards Week.
The grand final will culminate on December 12, 2026, when the two best drivers will face off live on stage in a battle for the title.
The FIA emphasizes that this is an important step for the esports segment, especially as the focus expands from circuit racing to the rally discipline for the first time. On the other hand, the game's development team highlights that this is a great recognition for a project that is still in Early Access.
Assetto Corsa Rally is currently available on Steam in Early Access, with a temporary 20% discount. The game brings the recognizable driving physics of the Assetto Corsa series into the demanding world of rallying, combining speed, precision, and customization into an intense simulation experience.
More information about the competition is expected soon.
