The publisher 4Divinity and developer Sword Panda Limited have released a new gameplay and story trailer for Sword Sage: Awakening, an upcoming action RPG based on Chinese mythology and folklore. The trailer follows San Niang, a disciple of the Yuangong sect, who faces the consequences of an ancient mistake. Long-lost forbidden heavenly books once fell into the hands of humans and bestowed upon them divine knowledge, disrupting the balance between the earthly and spiritual worlds. The story takes players to Jiannandao, a fantastical land shaped by disasters, monstrous plagues, and the legacy of the Supreme White Gibbon Sage.
After humans gained knowledge and power that were never meant for them, Jiannandao was struck by natural disasters and attacks from dangerous beings known as Yaoguai. The inhabitants thus developed advanced technologies to survive, while San Niang uses martial arts, mystical artifacts, Taoist spells, and a secret sword technique of the Yuangong sect on her journey. Sword Sage: Awakening combines traditional swordplay, fast-paced action RPG combat, Chinese folklore, and elements of science fiction, and the new trailer showcases a part of the world, enemies, and combat possibilities that the game will offer.
