The focus of the new Nintendo Direct was on the presentation of the Nintendo Switch 2, but of course, there were also new details about upcoming titles, as well as improvements for older ones. We learned that certain games from the first Switch will receive new versions that will utilize the console's potential and new additions to provide a better experience; some of the titles included:

  • Super Mario Party Jamboree
  • The Legend of Zela Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom
  • Kirby and the Forgotten Land
  • Metroid Prime 4 Beyond (mouse (Joy-con) gameplay option)
  • Pokemon Legends Z-A

However, what everyone was waiting for were of course the new titles, and here is a brief overview of some of them.

Racing around the world

Mario Kart World brings a new chapter for the famous racing series; this time there will be a larger number of players in the races, costumes, new shortcuts, and even open-world driving. This game will be released on the launch day of Switch 2.

Unique 3x3 basketball experience

Drag x Drive is a sports title where players play 3x3 basketball, their characters will be in wheelchairs that will be moved using new controller features.

Partners are coming in full force

Switch 2 can boast a large number of games being developed by many Nintendo partners, among them was a surprise in the form of a new edition of Elden Ring called Tarnished Edition, Cyberpunk 2077, and Hollow Knight: Silksong which is coming this year.

Age of War

Nintendo and Koei Tecmo are working together on the development of Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment which will serve as a prequel to The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom and will follow the story of the great war.

Exclusive tier for Nintendo Switch Online

Owners of the new Switch will be able to use previous subscriptions to Nintendo Switch Online, but also a new exclusive one that will include titles from GameCube, among the announced were The Legend of Zelda Windwaker, SoulCalibur 2, and F-Zero GX. It was also mentioned that more titles will come in the future.

Bloodborne 2?

Besides Elden Ring, FromSoftware also appeared with the announcement of a new PvPvE title The Duskbloods which will be similar to the upcoming Elden Ring Nightreign. The biggest surprise at the end of the trailer was the information that it is a Switch 2 exclusive. Many viewers were also disappointed, as they thought it was a remaster of Bloodborne.

Sakurai is back

The creator of the Super Smash Bros. series, Masahiro Sakurai before the Direct on X wrote that he has nothing to do with the event, nor with Nintendo, which turned out to be untrue, as a sequel to the Kirby AirRide series was announced. Kirby AirRaiders will be a racing game.

Donkey Kong in Odyssey treatment

The show concluded with the announcement of a new 3D Donkey Kong game, Donkey Kong Bananza set to release on July 17, reminiscent of Super Mario Odyssey.

Information and new gameplay will be available today and tomorrow during Nintendo Treehouse.
