After the premiere announcement trailer released in August last year, the Croatian indie studio Downtown Game Studio presents a new trailer for its upcoming narrative action adventure — now under a new, official title: Dark Queen of Samobor.
The new trailer offers a glimpse into the dark and atmospheric world of the game through previously unseen locations and enemies, as well as significantly more gameplay than the previous announcement. The game retains its recognizable style — combining hand-directed camera work, perspective shifts, combat, environmental puzzles, and rich narration — and this trailer further emphasizes the mood and brutality of the world of Dark Queen of Samobor.
Special attention in the trailer is dedicated to the titular anti-heroine — the Black Queen, who speaks for the first time in this trailer. The narrator of the trailer and the voice of the Black Queen is Sandra Lončarić, a national champion of drama and one of the most respected Croatian actresses, known for her extensive theater and film work. Lončarić's interpretation adds extra depth and menace to the character of the dark ruler.
Dark Queen of Samobor is a 2.5D action adventure inspired by Croatian literary heritage, myths, and folklore. The game follows a knight who battles through eerie biomes and fights monsters inspired by Croatian legends to reach the black fortress of Samobor — the castle of the Black Queen. Each defeated boss unlocks a new ability, while the story unfolds through visual language, symbolism, and the narrator's monologue.
The game is currently in development, with a release planned for late 2026. It can be added to the wishlist on Steam, and all interested parties can follow the development through the official Discord server, social media, and the team's dev blogs.
