Clear River Games has announced that the cult series Cotton will expand on October 22, 2026, with new physical and digital releases of the games Cotton Reboot! and Cotton Reboot! High Tension!!.
Cotton Reboot! is coming to Nintendo Switch 2 and PlayStation 5 in both physical and digital editions. This is a modernized version of one of the most well-known representatives of the so-called cute ’em up genre, which originally marked Japanese arcade and home systems in the early nineties. Players will once again take on the role of the witch Cotton, who, along with the fairy Silk, sets out in search of her favorite Willow sweets.
This release offers the option to play in HD Reboot mode, as well as in X68000 original mode for those who want a more faithful retro representation. Players will be able to choose between the original X68000 soundtrack and a remixed soundtrack, making Cotton Reboot! appealing to both old fans and new players encountering this series for the first time.
On the same day, Clear River Games will also release Cotton Reboot! High Tension!!, a sequel to the Reboot series developed by Studio Siesta/Rocket Engine. The game will have a physical release for Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 5, while the digital version will be available on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5.
Cotton Reboot! High Tension!! continues the recognizable formula of colorful, fast, and challenging shoot ’em up, but introduces new mechanics as well. Along with the return of abilities like Fire Dragon and Lightning, the game features more aggressive enemy attacks, hidden magic for score boosts, and an expanded Willow Fever system, an upgraded version of the Fever mechanic from Cotton Reboot!.
Both games will be available on October 22, 2026, as Clear River Games continues to expand the availability of classic and retro titles on modern platforms.
