Nintendo is reportedly preparing for an official entry into the Indian market, but not with the latest console Nintendo Switch 2. According to the Indian portal ABP Live, the company is expected to launch the original Nintendo Switch in India in early 2027.
ABP Live states that the console is expected to arrive in February or March 2027, with an approximate price of around 20,000 Indian rupees. Redington is mentioned as a possible distribution partner for the official release.
This is the basic model of the Nintendo Switch console, which has been available on the global market for years. This announcement raises the question of how interested Indian gamers will be in the official arrival of older hardware, especially at a time when the Nintendo Switch 2 is already present in other markets.
However, Nintendo's official entry into India could bring important advantages for consumers, including clearer pricing, official distribution, and support through warranty, which has not been equally accessible to users who obtained the console through unofficial channels.
