The publisher Atari and developer Fabraz have announced that the demo for Bubsy 4D is now available on consoles, allowing players to try out the upcoming platformer before its official release. The demo version features the initial part of the game, including a tutorial and the first levels, where players can experience basic mechanics such as jumping, gliding, and fast movement through levels.
Special emphasis is placed on new abilities like “Hairball Mode,” which transforms Bubsy into a fast, spinning ball for dynamic movement through the level. Bubsy 4D marks a significant return of the series to 3D after nearly 30 years, bringing modernized gameplay along with the recognizable humor and fourth wall that has always been a hallmark of this character.
The game's storyline takes players to multiple planets where they will face familiar enemies, the Woolies, as well as new threats, with a focus on exploration, collection, and fast-paced action. The full release of the game is planned for May 22, 2026, and it will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PC, Nintendo Switch, and other platforms.
The demo was previously available on PC, and its arrival on consoles further opens the door to a wider audience of players who want to see if Bubsy can finally make a successful comeback.
