Pompeii: The Legacy, a city-building strategy game from the indie studio Siscia Games led by Željko Kos, will enter Early Access on Steam on September 23, 2025. The game begins twenty years after the eruption of Vesuvius in 79 AD, and the player takes on the role of the leader of a Roman family that must rebuild Pompeii over generations, spanning more than 200 years of historical development.
The game will combine resource management, infrastructure building — such as roads, aqueducts, trade routes — politics, trade, social structures (patricians, plebeians, slaves), and choices that affect the fate of the city and the family. There is also an optional RTS mode for military conflicts, as well as calmer options like diplomatic paths or a focus on construction.
One of the key aspects is localization: the game will be available in 12 languages from the very start of Early Access, including Croatian, English, German, Spanish, Italian, Russian, Chinese, Korean, and Polish, allowing for broader accessibility for players. Developer Željko Kos plans regular updates — weekly to expand, fix, and refine the game based on player feedback.
Although the Early Access version brings the core experience with most buildings, a campaign, and basic systems of economy and politics — some elements, such as RTS battles (military conflicts) will be developed and refined after launch. Overall, Pompeii: The Legacy appears to be an ambitious title that promises a blend of historical atmosphere, strategic depth, and options for players who prefer peaceful development over military conflict.
