We all know that Nintendo "dominates" the RPG game market (the first thing that comes to mind is Pokémon), but Bandai Namco has been trying to compete with the Japanese giant for years with its popular franchise - Digimon.

Although many think that Digimon are popular solely because of Japanese animation, the role-playing market is full of games from this legendary franchise. There have been many titles that have left a nice memory for fans, such as Digimon World, Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth, and Digimon World: Dawn and Dusk.

Bandai Namco has long been announcing a new game and innovations that even the biggest Digimon fans will gladly accept. This is the title Digimon Story: Time Stranger, a game whose full release is scheduled for October 3rd of this year, while Steam users have already had the opportunity to play a demo version lasting several hours. The game's storyline focuses on uncovering a secret that spans the human and Digital worlds, while the player collects and raises various Digimon to save the ENTIRE world. As someone who has played the aforementioned titles, I can say that Story Time Stranger truly takes us back to the past, to a time when Digimon World was an example of an excellent RPG title.

In addition to basic RPG mechanics, Story Time Stranger goes a step further with its innovations and gives the player many more options in structuring evolutions and enhancements that strengthen Digimon. Digi-evolutions are more detailed and elaborate than ever, and besides classic items, the player can customize each Digimon almost without limitations. It is also worth mentioning the new option in the game that allows the player to communicate with their Digimon and build strong bonds that contribute to their personality. The "Personality perk" is not new in the gaming world, but it is in Digimon, which further opens up possibilities for players.

Digimon Story: Time Stranger releases on October 3rd, 2025, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. Additional information about the game is available on the official website.
