After the first two articles, we bring you the third part in which we have listed several games that we have seen, briefly tried out, or talked to the developers about, that caught our attention.
Piratoos!
Piratoos! is an upcoming action-adventure game where you control clumsy animal pirates in a physics-driven world. Sail, loot islands, engage in hilarious battles, and face epic bosses. The game can be played solo, online in co-op, or locally via split-screen.
Invasia
Invasia is an upcoming cinematic third-person sci-fi survival-horror game developed and published by the independent studio Rocat.games. Set on a dying space station orbiting an unknown planet, the game depicts isolation and unexplainable events — the crew has vanished, alarms are blaring, and the corridors are filled with inhuman screams. Everything begins with the player waking up in this eerie atmosphere, and the story unfolds through environmental storytelling.
Inspired by works such as The Thing, David Lynch, and H. R. Giger, the game brings a combination of bio- and body horror elements, along with a brutal third-person action system and grotesque enemy design — decaying and mutating corpses infected with alien parasites. The interface is minimal (diegetic), enhancing the sense of immersion in the game world.
Ghost Haunting
Ghost Haunting is an upcoming 2D point-and-click adventure in charming pixel art, blending nostalgic 90s style with modern gameplay mechanics. The game takes us through the story of a mischievous eight-year-old girl named Gigi who discovers that her strict grandfather Giovanni is actually a famous ghost hunter. With the help of an unusual assistant, a pumpkin demon named Baron Butternut, Gigi tries to bring her grandmother back from the world of the dead — with consequences that could threaten the entire world.
The game promises a relaxed and fun adventure: the classic "point-and-click" interface is complemented by hint systems, fast travel, and highlighting interactive objects to avoid frustration — with the slogan "Not-getting-stuck-guarantee" (no guarantee). Its atmosphere combines a warm, humor-infused coming-of-age story about growing up, death, and their interconnection, with unique characters like partially living zombies, "deathstyle" coaches, and other oddities, but without sudden jump scares ("No jump scares. Probably.").
Developed by Three Headed Monkey Studios, published by Daedalic Entertainment, the game does not yet have an official release date.
Cathedral: Crow’s Curse
Cathedral: Crow’s Curse is an upcoming action-adventure game in pixel-art style, set in the same universe as the original Cathedral, but with its own story and prequel perspective. The game combines precise combat (parry, dodge, stealth) with exploration of a seamlessly connected world filled with puzzles, traps, and side quests. Some of the enhancements include improved pixel-art, dynamic lighting, and fluid animations. The game also brings a rich narrative focused on the mysterious Shade Sentinels and the origin of the curse that follows them.
Denshattack!
Denshattack! is an adrenaline-fueled action-adventure game where you drive trains through a post-apocalyptic Japanese landscape, performing spectacular tricks like flips, wall rides, and grinding on the tracks. With over 50 levels, the goal is to defeat the Miraido corporation and regain control of the railway. The release is expected in 2026.
Forge of the Fae
Forge of the Fae is an upcoming retro modern RPG in pixel-art style, developed by Datadyne LLC and published by Deck 13 Spotlight, a well-known publisher of games like CrossCode and Chained Echoes.
We follow the adventure of inventor Fiore, who investigates a series of mysterious disappearances amid a workers' strike in an industrial, Celtic-inspired setting.
The combat utilizes an innovative Crystal (ARC) system, combining spells, adrenaline, and synergies for a strategic, dynamic clash.
Swordhaven: Iron Conspiracy
Swordhaven: Iron Conspiracy is a party-based fantasy cRPG created by AtomTeam and was released in Early Access on December 11, 2024.
Set in the rich and non-linear world of Nova Drakonia, the game offers players exploration of villages, ancient temples, enigmatic dungeons, and hidden locations while uncovering a conspiracy that threatens the very existence of the world.
Inspired by Infinity Engine classics such as Baldur’s Gate and Icewind Dale, Swordhaven offers a tactical combat system with the option of real-time-with-pause or turn-based combat, as well as a flexible, classless character system.
Fall of Dateus
Fall of Dateus is a dark fantasy action RPG prototype available for Windows. The game puts you in the role of the last hope of a dying world — sent by the gods, your task is to destroy the twisted sorceress who is ravaging the land. Throughout the game, you have the ability to enhance your sword with elemental magic, extract the souls of defeated enemies, and resurrect them to aid you in the battle for the world's salvation. Originally created as a vertical "slice" project for a 48-hour game jam, the prototype was developed as part of a student semester project.
