Sony Corporation and TCL Electronics Holdings Limited today announced that they have signed a memorandum of understanding confirming their intention to establish a strategic partnership in the home entertainment sector.

According to this agreement, a joint venture is planned to take over Sony's home entertainment business, with TCL holding 51% of the shares and Sony 49%. The new company would operate globally and encompass the entire process — from product development and design to manufacturing, sales, logistics, and customer support for televisions and home audio equipment.

Sony and TCL will continue discussions to sign binding agreements by the end of March 2026. With the fulfillment of all regulatory approvals and conditions, the new company is expected to start operations in April 2027.

The partnership aims to combine Sony's high-quality image and sound technology, brand, and operational experience with TCL's advanced display technology, global business scope, and vertical supply chain to create new value for customers worldwide. Products from the new company will continue to carry the globally recognized name Sony and the BRAVIA™ line.
