Today, KOEI TECMO EUROPE and the development team Team NINJA unveiled the next stage of their upcoming dark samurai action RPG Nioh 3, which will be released on February 6, 2026, on PlayStation 5 and Windows PC via Steam.

For the first time in the franchise's history, the Bakumatsu period will be established as a new setting where players begin their journey in Nioh 3. The spatial framework is set in Kyoto in the 1800s, where the land and iconic landmarks such as the Kiyomizu-dera and Honnō-ji temples are taken over and transformed by the influence of the "Crucible."

In addition to encounters with new and terrifying jōkai creatures, players will also face the forces of Shinsengumi — a military unit serving the shogunate. Shinsengumi fighters will be challenging opponents equipped with modern weapons such as firearms and machine guns, executing combined attacks from a distance and from multiple directions – marking the first time in the history of the Nioh series.

During their journey, players will meet a new set of striking characters unique to each period. In Kyoto during the Bakumatsu period, protagonist Takechiyo Tokugawa will encounter Takasugi Shinsaku, Okita Sōji, and Tokugawa Yoshinobu, the 15th shōgun of the Tokugawa shogunate.

A SteelBook® edition is also available for pre-order, which includes the base game and two exclusive bonus DLCs. All editions of the game come with a pre-order bonus that can be redeemed on the PlayStation Store and Steam, available for a limited time after the game's release.
