SMITE 2 Alpha build

Home / News / SMITE 2 Alpha build

We played the Alpha version of SMITE 2, the visually and mechanically improved successor of the famous game SMITE. We won't go on too long, the game and the tasks themselves have remained the same as in the original SMITE. But, of course, novelties have been introduced into the game itself, and the same is noticeable at first glance.

The SMITE game is a game of the MOBA genre (Multiplayer Online Battle Arena) where, most often, players play 5v5 in a "closed world" or arena, as the name of the genre suggests. I believe SMITE found its inspiration in the game League of Legends, but SMITE differs in several things, but the most important one is that it is a 3D MOBA, unlike LoL. By doing so, it calls upon players with a different skill set and depth assessment when firing the champion's capabilities.

The pictures below the article will show you how the interface looks like in the main menu (picture 3) and some of the new features. The novelties that impressed us the most are the teleporter (pictures 1 and 4) to a certain path, which greatly reduces the time of arrival at the path, especially when your towers are under siege. After use, teleporters are locked for approx. 180 seconds, but after the time expires, they can be used again.

Another novelty that we liked is the indicator (picture 2), and this is especially good for beginners, depending on your role (Solo, Support, Carry, Jungler, Middle), which shows you at the very beginning of the game what your path is. Also, when you reach the track, the indicator shows you how many seconds it will take your little minions to reach the track and start conquering.

Each team has two sets of towers on each lane, once the towers are destroyed you get to the Fenix, which as the name suggests, after being destroyed, regenerates after a certain amount of time and once again prevents the opposing troops from getting to your Titan. Once a Titan is destroyed the game is over and the team that destroyed the opposing Titan wins and you are ready for a new game. SMITE, like SMITE 2, draws its focus and inspiration from various mythologies, and the initial such mythology is Greek as well as Chinese and Norse.

SMITE 2 alpha version is currently being upgraded with new features and novelties that were not available in the original SMITE game, but also, since SMITE is in development since March 25, 2014, more Gods, more practice options, more arenas and game modes are available in the original game. We believe that the development studio Titan Forge Games will present many more novelties in the future.
