The action platformer Castle of Heart is getting its completely revamped edition titled Retold. The original version was released in 2018 exclusively for Nintendo Switch, and now from October 3rd, we will be able to experience the redesigned version on Switch, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, with a version for Switch 2 confirmed to arrive later.

The game returns us to the role of the Slavic warrior Svaran, an unfortunate hero cursed to turn to stone. His mission is clear – to defeat the evil wizard and free his beloved Mira, but the cost of this journey is high. Throughout the game, our hero's body literally falls apart – losing limbs if the player does not maintain the pace of combat, which further emphasizes the challenge and unique visual identity of the game.

Retold brings significant improvements – the visual presentation has been elevated to a new level, combat is more precise and faster, and the interface has been completely redesigned. Additionally, the story has been expanded with new dialogues and alternative endings, providing an extra reason for those who have already completed the original.

A major emphasis has also been placed on atmosphere – Slavic mythology is once again highlighted through enemies like chorts and water spirits, as well as through a rich selection of weapons. Players will have access to classic swords, axes, and spears, as well as improvised weapons like torches and crossbows. Boss fights further test reflexes, promising to be a generous challenge for players' patience.

One detail that stands out is the care for existing fans – owners of the original Switch version are entitled to a 80% discount for the upgrade. The standard price of the game is €14.99, while a 15% discount will be available in the first days of sale.

Studio 7Levels from Krakow clearly aims to provide a sense of freshness without compromising the game's roots. With improved cutscenes, new music, and additional endings, Castle of Heart: Retold feels like the definitive edition of the game that could attract a new audience while rewarding those who ventured into battle seven years ago.
