With the new witching season, we bring you recommendations for the best horror games in 2025.

To start, on October 23rd, the long-awaited sequel Tormented Souls 2 has arrived, taking us back to a world similar to Resident Evil. Outdated graphics, fixed camera angles, and a sea of puzzles to solve while being attacked by monsters. Help Carolina Walker explore the Hess Villa, an isolated town in the mountains of southern Chile, and save her twin sister Anna from a horrific cult.

Additionally, the new Silent Hill F is a perfect addition to the dark period. Discover Ebisugaoku, a fictional mountain town set in Japan in the 1960s through the main character Hinako. Throughout the game, Hinako must explore the town and its hidden paths, solve puzzles, fight grotesque monsters, and uncover the dark secrets behind the appearance of fog and twisted realities. The game itself provides a perfect blend of psychological and classic horror, creating a very familiar unsettling atmosphere of Silent Hill.

For a more psychological horror experience, dive into the game Luto – a game with the most innovative mechanics and a very emotional story that will keep you on edge the whole time. This first-person psychological horror features the main character Samuel (Sam) who is trapped in some form of a repetitive, symbolic loop from which he cannot escape. Every attempt to leave the house brings Samuel back to the beginning, to the same space — a broken mirror in the bathroom. Sam must explore the house, understand the clues, and through them uncover his own past, traumas, losses, and what prevents him from “breaking free”.

Furthermore, the new indie game No, I’m Not a Human falls under “dystopian, anxiety horror” where you need to identify and save people while keeping yourself and the survivors safe from the “Visitor.” In the style of a visual novel, the game evokes a sense of insecurity and fear through very simple graphics and tailored gameplay, which adds to the uncomfortable atmosphere. The player controls the protagonist's house, receiving every nighttime visitor seeking shelter from the daytime heat and guessing – who is human and who is the Visitor.

A milder approach to horror can be found in the new game Bye, Sweet Carole - a 2D platformer that combines the style of animated cartoons and scary stories. The fairy tale blend takes you on an adventure with Lana, a girl from the Bunny Hall orphanage, who is searching for her missing friend Carole. Through various paths, numerous scary enemies, and the ability to transform into a bunny, uncover the truth about the orphanage and save your friend before it's too late. As Lana investigates Carol's disappearance, she balances between the real and fantastic worlds while uncovering the secrets behind Bunny Hall and the twisted kingdom of Corolla.

Another interesting platformer is the sequel Little Nightmares III, which this time introduces new heroes: Low and Alone. The game's story takes place in a world called The Nowhere — a dark, twisted place not meant for children. Low and Alone are trying to find their way out of The Nowhere through a series of dangerous locations known as The Spiral. The game offers a multiplayer option, and both protagonists come with different abilities that they need to combine to solve puzzles and successfully avoid enemies.

We highlight these titles as the best new games for a perfect Halloween experience. Happy Halloween!
