Home / Tech / Intel and MSI have introduced the first handheld with Intel Arc G3: MSI Claw 8 EX AI+ has hit the market.

This is the first Intel processor specifically developed for the handheld gaming segment, which represents a significant shift from previous approaches based on customized laptops.

Intel and MSI have introduced the MSI Claw 8 EX AI+, the first handheld device with the new Intel Arc G3 Extreme processor, the result of over two years of joint engineering and three generations of development. The device, premiered at Computex in Taipei, brings a significant leap in performance and energy efficiency compared to previous generations based on Intel Core platforms.

MSI and Intel collaborated on optimizing the motherboard, cooling, and power supply to achieve a balance between power, battery life, and ergonomics in a very compact case; for example, the CPU and RAM are placed on opposite sides of the board for better thermals and space utilization. Intel's signal simulation solutions and software optimizations, including shader precompilation and integration with Xbox mode in Windows 11, contributed to smoother game performance and better results in titles like Cyberpunk 2077.

The first successful power-on of the prototype was recorded in January 2026, after which the teams continued with fine-tuning for AAA games and additional validations. The MSI Claw 8 EX AI+ comes in a special “void purple” color, and Intel announces that devices from other manufacturers on the Arc G3 platform will follow soon, which should expand the offering of PC-class handhelds in the market.
