E3 after E3

Summer Game Fest is one of the hottest summer events in the gaming industry, and we are just 23 days away from the new edition (June 5, 2026). This event was founded in 2020 by Geoff Keighley, who is also the creator of The Game Awards. It consists of multiple presentations organized throughout the summer, with the most important one being on the first day, where the biggest titles are announced, followed by presentations from publishers and development studios such as Xbox Games Showcase or Day of the Devs (indie games).

Keighley is one of the key figures in the industry who was involved in events at the E3 fair and in 2020 expressed his concern and dissatisfaction with the announcement that the fair would be organized despite the COVID epidemic, leading him to withdraw from all planned events. After the cancellation of E3 and Gamescom that year, he established Summer Game Fest as a replacement, and since 2021, this event has become the standard central presentation of the year, also nicknamed not-E3. Below, we bring you an overview of past editions and key announcements for each of them.
