Deathbulge: Battle of the Bands is coming to Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S on June 30, 2026. It is a music RPG that originally released for PC in 2023 and currently has 98 percent positive user reviews on Steam.
The game follows Faye, Ian, and Briff, three dysfunctional friends and band members who unwittingly end up in a cursed band competition. The problem is that all participants can attack with music, and the competition does not end with applause, but with a fight to the death.
Deathbulge: Battle of the Bands uses the Measure Effects combat system, which combines turn-based combat with real-time decision-making. Players choose how to position band members, change the frontman, and ensure that the same character is not exposed to attacks for too long between turns. The band can be customized through nine music-themed classes, including Busker and Headbanger, each with its own attacks, perks, and outfits.
The console edition also brings new content that was not part of the original PC version. New items, an Easy Mode option at save points, and harder boss variants for players seeking a greater challenge will be added. The same content will also arrive on PC as a free upgrade on June 30, 2026.
In addition to combat, the game offers about 15 to 20 hours of gameplay, a later dating segment, special items in the form of merch, avoidance of random battles, a rich world with numerous quirky characters, and an original soundtrack. Deathbulge: Battle of the Bands is based on the webcomic of the same name by Dan Martin.
