Theropods is a hand-animated point-and-click adventure from the indie studio Lost Token and publisher Dionous Games, built around an unusual blend of the prehistoric world, dinosaurs, and science fiction.
The game has spent six years in development, and the project previously successfully passed a Kickstarter campaign. The new trailer provides a more detailed look at the puzzles, the world, and the unusual friendship between a prehistoric huntress and a lost alien.
This is a classic adventure based on visual logic, without dialogue, subtitles, or lengthy textual explanations. Players progress by observing the environment, the behavior of creatures, and the reactions of characters, while puzzles are solved by experimenting with objects, animals, and changes in each scene.
The story follows a young huntress whose village is struck by a mysterious fiery stone from space. Its arrival attracts a bloodthirsty tribe that attacks the settlement and captures her people. After fleeing into the jungle, the huntress discovers that the stone belongs to a stranded alien whose damaged capsule depends on it.
Instead of combat, Theropods emphasizes resourcefulness. Players will distract hungry dinosaurs, avoid dangerous opponents, trigger reactions in the environment, and seek clever ways to navigate situations where direct confrontation would be fatal.
The game combines the prehistoric world of dinosaurs, jungles, canyons, caves, and wild predators with science fiction elements. All of this is depicted through hand-drawn animation that has been transformed into a pixel-art style, accompanied by a soundtrack that blends tribal rhythms and unusual sci-fi synthesizers.
Theropods is set to release on July 23, 2026, for PC via Steam, GOG, and the Epic Games Store.
