Last year, perhaps the worst game of 2025, Mindseye, was launched, and we had news that the studio started layoffs after a very unsuccessful launch.
Not even a year later, the troubles are far from over, as Kotaku reports that just last week an as-yet undefined number of layoffs were announced. While the studio, Build a Rocket Boy, has not officially commented on this news, a few (former) employees have posted on their official LinkedIn profiles that they no longer work for them. These are not just any positions; we are talking about level technical designers, sound designers, and similar roles.
As I mentioned earlier, after the catastrophic launch of this rocket, the studio would occasionally throw out some hope that they would get back on their feet and turn their game around like No Man's Sky or Cyberpunk 2077 did. As things stand, the title for turnaround of the year will not be theirs.
