Virus.hr investigates #1 - printed magazines for video games that are regularly published

Inspired by a special article on HCL.hr portal, we decided to explore the depths of the internet regarding the situation of printed magazines for video games. Honestly, we didn't have high expectations, but after spending half a day googling, the total number of magazines that are still alive is more than impressive. Below this article, we present some interesting facts and a complete list of magazines that are published in print.

1. In the UK, only three gaming magazines are published (PC Gamer, Retro Gamer, and Edge) + a business magazine (MCV Develop)
2. Germany (11) and France (9) are the countries with the highest number of magazines being published
3. In Japan, 5 gaming magazines are published, including Compiq (1983) and the weekly Famitsu (1986)
4. In the USA, only one video game magazine is published, thanks to its relaunch (Game Informer)
5. Believe it or not, in Serbia, a free video game magazine Play! has been published in PDF format since 2006!
6. The Czech Republic and Poland are countries where three magazines are published each
7. In the rest of Europe, one magazine is published in Turkey, Spain, and Russia among the larger countries
8. We found a total of 8 retro magazines that are regularly published!

As can be seen, unfortunately, Croatia is not on the list. After the cessation of the Reboot magazine in 2022 and the release of one issue of Game magazine in 2023, no company has decided to venture into publishing a print magazine for video games.
