Dead by Daylight celebrated its 10th anniversary with big surprises, new collaborations, and a long-awaited graphical upgrade that thrilled fans around the world.

Behaviour Interactive held a major 10th Anniversary Broadcast for Dead by Daylight last night in Montreal, showcasing content that will mark the tenth year of the popular asymmetrical horror game. During the nearly two-hour presentation, the studio revealed a new era for its horror hit, and reactions from the community on social media have been pouring in.

During the presentation, new licenses, upcoming chapters, and numerous surprises were showcased, but the moment that sparked the loudest reactions throughout the entire broadcast was the announcement of a major graphical upgrade for the game.

Dead by Daylight finally gets a visual overhaul

Behaviour revealed that it is entering a new phase of modernization for the game. The demonstration showcased completely revamped textures, more detailed environmental models, improved lighting, more realistic shadows, and significantly higher quality visual effects.

Particular attention was drawn to the comparisons between the old and new maps. Locations that players have traversed for years now look noticeably more detailed, darker, and atmospheric. The fog is thicker, the lighting more convincing, and certain parts of the maps feel almost like they belong to a completely new game.

It is not an exaggeration to say that this part of the presentation generated the biggest wave of excitement among veterans. After ten years of development, Dead by Daylight is finally receiving the visual identity that fans have long desired.

Terrifier comes to the game

Behaviour also confirmed the arrival of Art the Clown from the Terrifier franchise.

Although details have not yet been fully revealed, the mere confirmation of one of the most brutal horror villains of modern times was enough for the community to immediately start speculating about what his gameplay might be like.

New Survivor arrives this summer

After the Jason chapter, which arrives on June 16, 2026, Dead by Daylight will get a new original Survivor named Shane.

Behaviour has not revealed too many details about his background yet, but it is known that he will be released as a standalone chapter during August 2026 and will bring completely new perks focused on teamwork.

New map takes us to an abandoned shopping mall

At the end of 2026, a new original map set in a massive abandoned shopping mall has been announced.

The first reveal showcased a dark and claustrophobic space filled with empty stores, closed hallways, and a haunting atmosphere. The developers specifically emphasized that the map will utilize vertical design and represent one of the largest locations they have created to date.

Frank Stone becomes part of the main game

The character from last year's spin-off title The Casting of Frank Stone will not remain isolated in his own game.

It has been confirmed that Frank Stone will come to Dead by Daylight as a full chapter during 2027, further expanding the shared universe between the two titles.

Black Banquet replaces Twisted Masquerade

After several years, the Twisted Masquerade event is retiring.

It will be replaced by a completely new annual event called Black Banquet. The theme of the event revolves around a grotesque feast, food, and dark rituals, and players will use special modifiers during matches that change the rules of the game.

The visual style of the event immediately caught attention thanks to its lavish masks, luxurious costumes, and distinctly bizarre horror tone.

Interesting crossovers and collaborations

During the event, numerous new collaborations and expansions of existing licenses in Dead by Daylight were showcased.

Among the most interesting are new cosmetic items for Glenn and Negan from The Walking Dead universe, new Iron Maiden cosmetic sets, and content inspired by Silent Hill, including the Hinako Shimizu outfit and Nurse cosmetics for Spirit.

The announcement of the Diablo x Dead by Daylight crossover also sparked great interest in the community. Behaviour confirmed that Blizzard's dark fantasy universe is coming to the Fog through a special collection of cosmetics inspired by the most famous characters and aesthetics of the Diablo series.

A collaboration with the Scooby-Doo franchise was also confirmed, which was one of the biggest surprises of the entire presentation.

The future of the game looks more ambitious than ever

In addition to all the mentioned content, Behaviour presented the Community Chapter project, the new Sunflesh Rift, numerous cosmetic collections, and the first concrete steps towards the long-awaited Dead by Daylight movie.

But when all is said and done, last night's presentation will be remembered for one thing – the feeling that Dead by Daylight is entering a new era, while simultaneously celebrating ten years of success and paying tribute to the community that has supported it since the very beginning.

Jason Voorhees, Terrifier, Diablo, and Scooby-Doo may have been the big names that attracted the most attention, but the biggest winner of the night was the game itself. After ten years of existence, Dead by Daylight is finally receiving the technical and visual treatment it deserves, and the community's reactions show that this is exactly what players have wanted to see the most.
