The French studio Spiders, known for RPG titles like GreedFall and Steelrising, has officially closed after nearly 18 years of operation. The news was confirmed by the studio itself, stating that liquidation has been initiated and that they are ceasing operations immediately. The shutdown comes due to financial problems of the parent company Nacon, which failed to find a buyer for the studio after the insolvency process.
Although the studio is shutting down, the planned DLC for GreedFall: The Dying World will be released through Nacon, after which Spiders will cease to exist. With this closure, the industry loses another recognizable AA RPG studio, known for ambitious but technically modest projects.
