The fourth edition of the Indie Underground section brings a brief overview of several smaller games that have recently attracted attention with interesting ideas, release dates, and new trailers.

Indie Underground #4 brings three new independent titles that rely on cooperation, speed, and chaos among players. Sunset Summit, Gunstoppable, and Haunted Heist have stood out this week with new announcements, demo versions, or specific release dates, each trying to capture an audience looking for something different from big productions.

Sunset Summit

Bros Joe and Andrew Fender, part of the development team behind the indie hit DEVOUR, have introduced Sunset Summit, a new cooperative climbing game published by Future Friends Games. The game was revealed during the PC Gaming Show and will arrive on Steam in 2026. A demo version is already available.

Sunset Summit can be played solo or with up to eight players. The goal will be to climb to the top before sunset, using axes, ropes, delivery drones, pogo sticks, umbrellas, and other unusual tools. The game is not intended to be a frustrating experience, as it will feature regular checkpoints and instant respawning after a fall.

There will be a special emphasis on teamwork. Players will be able to communicate via proximity chat and walkie-talkies, help each other with equipment, and choose different routes to the top. Sunset Summit will also support offline solo play, making it more flexible than typical cooperative party titles.

Gunstoppable

CAGE Studios has announced that Gunstoppable will be released on August 5, 2026, for PC via Steam and Xbox Series X/S. It is a fast-paced roguelite shooter led by a former developer of the God of War series, and the game will focus on constant movement, aggressive combat, and creating the most effective weapon combinations.

Players will fight against greedy billionaire war profiteers, while the entire chaos will be streamed live within the game world. Combat will include sliding, grappling, riding on rails, and maintaining speed through neon arenas. Gunstoppable will offer ten weapons, fourteen attachments, and twenty-four upgrades.

The main idea will be to combine weapons and upgrades into devastating combinations against rogue robots and corrupt leaders. Based on what has been shown so far, Gunstoppable targets players who enjoy fast shooters, roguelite structure, and combat where standing still means a quick end.

Haunted Heist

The studio autotroph games has announced Haunted Heist, a comedic horror party title that will combine jewel heists, sabotage, and asymmetric PvP. The game will arrive on Steam later in 2026 and has already attracted attention with over 50 million views on social media.

The action will take place in a luxurious maze-like villa, where players will be divided into Heisters and Tricksters. Heisters will need to find jewels and return them to base before the ten-minute timer runs out, while Tricksters will attempt to sabotage, deceive, and eliminate the opposing team. The game will support three to ten players.

Heisters will use flashlights, pistols, torches, and defibrillators, while Tricksters will have abilities like invisibility, ambushes, silencing, voice changing, and disguising. Notably, there is the possibility of using recordings of players' voices, which could make trust among teammates the most dangerous weapon in the round.

Haunted Heist will rely on fast rounds, procedurally generated villa layouts, and proximity chat, which will primarily target groups of friends, streamers, and communities that enjoy unpredictable party games. Interested players can sign up via Discord until June 27, 2026, for a chance to participate in the playtest.
