WheelMates, a co-op adventure where two players control small RC cars through the house of an eccentric scientist, developed by FireVolt, is revving up and set to release in 2026 on Steam for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. The first playtest of the game will be in February on Steam.

The strange house owned by an even stranger professor awaits someone to uncover its secrets… and where its owner actually is. The only way to navigate through the building is to pilot a pair of RC cars that must be coordinated to progress and solve the mystery.

WheelMates focuses on cooperation rather than competition — no timers and no pressure to go fast. The experience is based on collaboratively solving problems at your own pace, with surprises and secrets to discover, including online and split-screen co-op.

These little cars can use powerful experimental equipment to break through the household. Jump boosters allow them to reach greater heights and jump over obstacles. With the help of grabbers, they can reach distant points. Magnetic wheels enable them to stick to metal surfaces and manipulate objects from afar.

Each room in WheelMates offers a compact play space filled with hidden paths, mechanical puzzles, and story details waiting to be uncovered. From narrow hallways to tall furniture, the house gradually reveals itself. Inspired by Metroidvania games, revisit the castle discovering previously inaccessible locations and once unsolvable puzzles.

With roots in classic RC games like Re-Volt and puzzle-platformer experiences, the team aimed to bring a new type of cooperative adventure with WheelMates, where RC cars become the heroes of the game. The mechanics of controlling remote-controlled cars, the fun of driving through home environments, and a plethora of power-ups open up many possibilities for our fresh approach to a genre that many love.

To provide players with an early hands-on insight into this cooperative experience, the team plans to hold the first developer-led playtest shortly after the announcement.

WheelMates is being developed for Steam for PC and PlayStation 5, aiming for a 2026 release, with details on additional platforms to be announced later.
