New information regarding Grand Theft Auto VI will delight many players – the game will not feature paid advertisements or real brands. This was confirmed by the CEO of Take-Two Interactive, Strauss Zelnick, during a recent public address.
According to him, the GTA series has always functioned as a fictional world full of parodies of real companies, so the introduction of real brands and advertisements simply wouldn't make sense. Zelnick emphasized that this approach “keeps the game clean” and true to the identity that fans expect.
Furthermore, the head of Take-Two made it clear that he considers the inclusion of advertisements in premium games – for which players pay full price – to be bad practice. Such a monetization model, in his opinion, would be unfair to players and could negatively impact the gaming experience.
This decision goes against current trends in the industry, where more and more publishers are seeking additional revenue through ads and sponsorships. However, Rockstar clearly wants to maintain the recognizable satirical tone of the series, in which fictional brands have been part of its identity since earlier installments.
As a reminder, Grand Theft Auto VI is set to be released on November 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, and interest in the game is already huge.
