Strictly Limited Games and Atari have announced a new publishing partnership that combines the rich Atari legacy with Strictly Limited's focus on premium physical editions for modern platforms. The goal of this collaboration is to preserve gaming heritage through limited collector's editions.
The first game from this collaboration is I, Robot, a reinterpretation of the extremely rare arcade game from 1984 created by Jeff Minter. The game is now available as a Strictly Limited Edition for PlayStation 5, with the physical edition featuring a printed manual limited to just 1000 numbered copies.
“We are extremely pleased to partner with Atari. Their games are iconic and tied to numerous memories for players around the world,” said Helmut Schmitz, CEO of United Games, the parent company of Strictly Limited Games. On the other hand, Ethan Stearns from Atari emphasized that they share the same passion for quality physical editions of new and classic games.
What does I, Robot bring?
In the new version of the game, players take control of a bull-headed robot trying to outsmart the “all-seeing eye.” Players must navigate levels by moving and rotating tiles to progress, but without jumping while the eye is active – otherwise, instant defeat follows. This is followed by fast-paced tube-shooter sequences where enemies are destroyed.
The game retains the recognizable style of Llamasoft, known for its psychedelic visuals, intense colors, and procedural music that evolves based on the player's progress.
Key features:
55 levels with a combination of platforming and arena challenges
Unique “tube-shooter” bonus sequences between levels
Recognizable visual style of Llamasoft
Procedural music that reacts to gameplay
Online leaderboards
The physical edition is available for purchase on the Strictly Limited Games website for a price of 25.20 euros.
