Niko Partners has announced that the games Grand Theft Auto V and GTA Online have finally been approved in Saudi Arabia and the UAE after 12 years since their original release in 2013, with a really high age limit of 21+ (instead of the usual 18+).
This approval marks a significant shift in game regulation in the MENA region, as it could allow for the approval of other titles without the need for content modifications. It is particularly important that games come in their original form, without censorship of violence, language, and themes, thanks to the new age category. This precedent opens the door for faster and more complete distribution of more serious and darker games in the region.
