Guitar Hero and Rock Band were essential names at every party or gathering during the early 2000s and 2010s. It seems that those times will repeat, as a new rhythm game Sound System has been announced, aiming to turn us and our loved ones into rock stars.
The game is developed by the team Echo Foundry Interactive, led by two veterans of Guitar Hero, DJ Hero, and Band Hero games. Sound System is described as a next-generation rhythm platform built for performance, competition, and community, and will support guitar, bass, and vocals at launch.
Sound System will feature classic and pro modes, with the former containing slower notes and no possibility of failing, while the pro mode will be designed for players seeking the ultimate challenge. The game will be free-to-play, but a complete edition will also be available for $35, unlocking all 60 songs as well as other bonuses. Individual songs will be available for standalone purchase.
The main features of the game will include the ability to change backgrounds, themes, full-motion videos, and create your own notes.
Sound System will be available for PC in spring 2026, with versions for PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox to follow later.
