Ziggurat Interactive has announced a major revival of the cult RTS franchise Krush Kill 'N Destroy, nearly 20 years after the original release. In collaboration with a team led by renowned modder Andre Mohren, the games Krush Kill 'N Destroy Xtreme (1997) and Krush Kill 'N Destroy 2: Krossfire (1998) are receiving significant upgrades to adapt them to modern systems.

The biggest news is the introduction of online PvP multiplayer, which will initially be available via Steam, while support for GOG Galaxy and crossplay between platforms will come later. Additionally, the games will support resolutions up to 4K, improved gameplay balance, enhanced modding tools (including an updated map editor for 64-bit systems), and the return of the original HD sound effects.

As part of the update, new launchers will arrive for easier game configuration, additional optimizations, and fixes for numerous technical issues from previous versions. The games will also receive additional languages – German and French will be available in both titles, while Krush Kill 'N Destroy 2: Krossfire will get additional languages that will be announced later.

The closed beta is already open for applications, while the open beta for all owners begins in May 2026. The final release of the updates is expected in June 2026, and the good news is that all existing owners of the game will receive the update completely free of charge. However, during the beta phase, the price will increase from $6.99 to $9.99 per title.

The return of KKND could delight fans of classic strategy games, this time with modern functionalities that were missing from the original releases.
