Playground Games and Xbox Game Studios have announced that Forza Horizon 6 has gone gold, meaning the game's development is complete and it is ready for digital release and printing on disk. That's not all, as they also revealed when early installation begins, which musical hits we will be driving to in the background, how the rewards for owners of previous Horizon games will look, and what options will be available for people with disabilities to make their experience as smooth as possible.
Early Installation
To mark this important milestone, players are allowed early installation via Xbox Series X/S consoles and PC (Xbox app), while it will soon be available for Steam version owners as well. The download size on consoles will be 135GB (Series X), 130GB (Series S), and PC (160GB), and anyone can install it, regardless of which edition they purchased or what tier of Game Pass subscription they own. Those who opted for a physical copy can also download the game via the Xbox app on mobile devices; they just need to find Forza in the store and click download to console. Those who have already completed the early installation should keep an eye on updates to ensure they can play on May 15 (Premium Edition or Premium Upgrade), or on May 19 when the global release date is set.
No Good Festival Without Music
As always, one of the main features of the Horizon series is the great music that covers more genres than rock, metal, EDM, and even Drum and Bass through its radio stations. Forza Horizon 6 follows this trend, and we have received a preview of the songs that will be included in the soundtrack, so players will have a choice between 10 stations which will be:
Horizon Pulse
Hospital Records
Gacha City Radio
Sub Pop Records
Horizon Wave
Horizon Opus
Quality and Performance Mode on Xbox Series X/S
Owners of Xbox Series X/S will be able to choose between Quality and Performance rendering modes to prioritize graphics or better frame rates. On Series X, Quality mode will run at 4K resolution with 30 frames per second, while Performance will target 4K resolution and 60 frames per second. For Series S, Quality will be at 1440p and 30 frames per second, while Performance will be 1080p at 60 frames per second.
Loyalty Rewards
Playground and Xbox have not forgotten the veterans of the series and have prepared special rewards for them for playing previous titles. If you have the following Horizons and Motorsport games on your Xbox profiles, after an introduction that will guide you with Mei through Tokyo, you will receive the following cars:
Forza Motorsport - 2024 Chevrolet Corvette E-Ray
Forza Horizon 5 - 2021 Mercedes-AMG ONE

Customize your own Horizon experience
Forza Horizon 6 comes with a range of features that can enhance the experience for casual players as well as those with difficulties. We will also have the option of autopilot that will take us to a point of our choosing on the map, which we will access by pressing a button that will activate assistant Anna who will take over the driving, giving us a chance to relax and enjoy the landscapes of Japan.
The proximity radar will allow us to more easily spot cars in blind spots to avoid unwanted collisions and maintain a cleaner drive, especially when using the interior, bumper, or hood camera. Players can also choose where to place the HUD.
What Forza Horizon 6 takes the most pride in is the new High Contrast mode that simplifies the screen so players can more easily see important parts; it is also fully open to changes.
Other accessibility features include controller button mapping, on-screen text reader, subtitles, adjustable camera (PC), options for people with color blindness, offline speed change, and various difficulty settings and driving assists.
An update planned after release will bring American Sign Language (ASL) and British Sign Language (BSL) for cutscenes, which will also include images featuring interpreters for both languages, and their positions on the screen can also be adjusted.
Japan is waiting!
All that’s left is to grab your festival wristbands and tickets for Japan, as Forza Horizon 6 arrives on May 19 for PC and Xbox Series X/S, while the PlayStation 5 version will come later in 2026.
