Home / News / The Red Dead Redemption Remaster has finally arrived, but not everything is going smoothly for owners of the XBOX version of the game.

Red Dead Redemption Remaster is available from December 2nd this year on PlayStation 5, XBOX Series X/S, Nintendo Switch 2, and on mobile devices iOS and Android.

This version of the game brings a gameplay experience of 60 frames per second, improved image quality, HDR support, and resolutions up to 4K. For Nintendo Switch 2, Rockstar Games states that they have utilized all the advantages of the new hardware with support for DLSS, HDR, mouse control, and smooth gameplay at 60 frames per second in high resolution.

Owners of the game versions for PlayStation 4, XBOX 360 (it has been incorrectly stated and communicated that there is an XBOX One version, which does not exist), and Nintendo Switch can upgrade the game to the Remaster version for free, but a huge number of players on the XBOX platform are encountering a problem as they are offered a 50% discount instead of a free upgrade during the upgrade process.

Rockstar Games is aware of this as a large number of game owners on XBOX have been panicking on social media over the last two days about whether they will receive a free upgrade since Rockstar Games mistakenly stated that owners of the game for XBOX One (which has never been released for that device) would receive a free upgrade, while the actual situation is that players could only purchase the XBOX 360 version of the game through the Microsoft Store.

To calm the hysterical masses, Rockstar Games issued a statement indicating that owners of the XBOX 360 digital version of the game will receive the upgrade, but only after they work with Microsoft to resolve the issue(s).

It is worth noting that Netflix subscribers have a free version of the game as part of their subscription. The game is also available through the GTA+ Games Library and PlayStation Plus Game catalog.

And perhaps not less importantly, anyone who owns the PlayStation 4 version can use their previous save data from PlayStation 4 to continue where they left off, and players on Nintendo Switch 2 can continue with their previous save data from the previous Nintendo Switch console.
