Ratata Arts and TVT Co. have officially announced that their new rhythmic roguelite action title Ratatan will be released on July 16 for Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. The release date was revealed during the Nintendo Indie World Showcase presentation, where the version of the game for Nintendo Switch 2 was also shown for the first time.

Ratatan is a colorful rhythmic action game that combines elements of roguelite adventure, musical rhythm, and tactical battles. Players lead their own army of cute creatures called Cobun, which they command in battle by following the rhythm of the music. The goal is to march through the ever-changing world of Redo and defeat the enemies that stand in the way, all of which can be played solo or in multiplayer.

The project first attracted significant attention in 2023 when a Kickstarter campaign was launched, raising over $1.4 million with the support of more than 14,000 players.

The game entered Steam Early Access in September 2025, where it sold over 100,000 copies in the first month. The development team, which includes former members of Sony Japan Studio led by designer Hiroyuki Kotani, has since regularly released free updates and additional content.

Ratatan is often described as the spiritual successor to the cult PlayStation Portable game Patapon, known for its unique combination of strategy and rhythm. With the upcoming release on consoles, Ratatan enters a new phase of development and aims to win over fans of musical and indie action games around the world.
